This painting was made by layering several layers of clear encaustic wax onto a 9"x9" wood base, scratching and banging objects into the warmed wax, rubbing in some oil paints and oil pastel and then rubbing most of it away. What remains are hints of a story, and a sense that maybe some things remain hidden.
This painting will be shipped with hanging hardware on the back, but if you choose to frame it, I recommend it be placed in a front loading frame where the wax will not be pressed against any surface.
Encaustic is an ancient medium that, if cared for well, will last a very very very long time (some still exist from ancient egyptian tombs). No, it will not melt on your wall, and, yes, I will send you an "about and caring for" information sheet with every purchase, just to make it easy.
