Got Craft? This holiday season, the answer is yes! Vancouver’s largest indie craft fair, Got Craft?, returns for its 12th show, bigger and better than ever at the Croatian Cultural Centre from December 8-9, 2012.

“Come shop for one-of-a-kind items in a casual environment,” invites Andrea Tucker, one half of the husband-wife production team. “The artists love chatting about their creative process and we have free workshops so everyone can go home with their own D.I.Y. project!”

The vendor list grew by 45% for the holiday show, now featuring 80 artists who make everything from chocolate to cards and clothes, so that shoppers can buy themselves a present or knockeverything...

Last weekend in Vancouver was a big one for the holiday shoppers. There were all kinds of shows, events and interesting ways to get your shopping done. But the most interesting of all, was the Make It! Show, a craft show with a twist, and by twist I mean booze and music. We had the pleasure of sponsoring the event this year and we are super proud of all our sellers that crushed it this past weekend. We met some of the awesome people behind the Cargoh stores that have made our venue what it is, got to talk to a whole host of new sellers that will be popping up on the site in the next few days, and had a ton of fun spreading the Cargoh love to almost 6000 new friends!

We wanted to say thanks to Jenna and Chandler, our gracious hosts, for putting on such a great event. It was their biggest show ever, and very well deserved indeed! If you're in the hood, be sure to check out their Edmonton show coming up...

The word handmade is truly one of the broadest words in the English language! But every once in a while, I get completely rocked by what someone is able to make with their hands.

Japanese motorcycle engineer Shinya Kimura make motorcyles. One part "Bullit", one part "Blade Runner" and all parts awesome!

Shot by Henrik Hansen, this film beautifully captures Shinya's passion for his craft.

Cindy Steiler learned the art of handmade from her shop's namesource - her paternal Grandmother, Mary.   Today, she's honed the skills her grandmother passed down to create stunning, vintage-inspired, mixed-media, surrealist needlepoints that have the rare ability to disturb and delight their viewer all at once.  {At least, this viewer.  The repurposed [not to mention exhumed] antique German doll parts really freak me out.  In the good way.}

Steiler uses homespun 100-year-old linen as her canvas, and has a distintive almost illiustration-like vibe to her hand-stitched characters ~ giving her body of work a signature style, despite the fact that no two pieces are the same.   Really beautiful stuff.
